StarCraft Freak was created on December 14, 2002. StarCraft Freak is a result of two things. My drive to learn HTML, and Scfreak.com. In my view, the original Scfreak was the power house of all StarCraft sites,  truly the best of the best. I wanted to emulate this site, in my own way. Scfreak.com is no longer with us,  but Scfreak.org shall live on forever in its tribute.

I’m proud that initially this site was written with minimal help from my old friend Peofeoknight, also our original banner was created by him.  While our first incarnation was crap, it was my crap. I was proud that I could create a site that has decent content but lacked in overall design. Overtime, we expanded. With various hosting companies and domain names. I was too young to afford a domain name for most of our beginning years, and as a result probably lost a good deal of our fan base who couldn’t keep up with the constant changes.

Once we moved to scfreak.org things settled down. We’ve been using the same basic layout for the past 7 years, and it was time to change. On Decemember 17, 2008 we purchased a new theme. Some may ask “Well, why don’t you have an SCFreak logo now instead of a StarCraft II logo and blank artwork?” the answer to that is simple. If you come to this site, you know it is SCFreak. I don’t need to have a distracting logo (even if it looks nice) telling you what you already know. (alternately, one could play devil’s advocate and claim the same with the StarCraft II logo…but I digress.) We should appreciate the game and the artwork and our banner allows the space to do that.

Though, I believe we’ve always had good content for the majority of the years, a lot of our material is borrowed from other sites. In the old days, we were known to have the best strategy guides available on the web.  While we rarely present breaking news, scfreak.org is more of a directory of information. Most of the material we have borrowed are from old sources and sites that no longer exist. We’ve preserved the past, and put the best of the best into one site.
